Internal Grinding Solutions for Continuous Casting

Each unit is composed of:

No. 1 horizontal workpiece-holder table with manual or motorized rotation, featuring a tapered roller bearing system; the rotary table is complete with a hydraulic clamping vice, suitable for securing the specific workpieces, and an automatic part-tipping system. Capability for both dry and wet processing.

No. 1 Grinding Unit Mod. AP 175 SPECIAL: support column for the assembly, featuring motorized lifting and approach. The internal sides of the ingot moulds are processed individually via an abrasive belt unit; this unit travels longitudinally inside the workpiece, following the stroke length previously set by the operator via the digital keypad. The lateral displacement is also programmed by the operator via the keypad, based on the contact wheel being used


The longitudinal slide is driven by a gear motor, sliding on special hardened steel guides. Movement is transmitted via a rack-and-pinion coupling. Regarding the longitudinal stroke, the speed is adjustable via an inverter, allowing for a speed range from 1 to 10 m/min.

The transverse stroke is driven by a gear motor with a ball screw transmission system and inverter-adjustable speed. The position of both slides is controlled by the PLC via position encoders.

Note: the system can also be equipped with an automatic loading and unloading system for the ingot moulds, transferring them from the feed roller conveyor to the table and vice-versa.
